Texas Tech University announced on April 1 that its fourth annual Day of Giving surpassed previous records, with approximately $860,000 raised from 2,511 donors across 43 states. The event exceeded its donor goal by nearly 900 and set new marks for the number of dollars raised, donors participating, states represented, first-time donors (450), and challenges met (15).
The Day of Giving is significant as it supports a wide range of university priorities. This year’s donations benefited 132 funds covering student life, research, academics and athletics. According to Texas Tech President Lawrence Schovanec, “Our Day of Giving reflects the strength of the Red Raider community. What stands out most is the broad participation and the many gifts of all sizes that collectively make a meaningful impact. It’s a vivid example of how Red Raiders so generously support each other and our university.”
The fundraising took place March 24-25 and included contributions to areas such as Companion Animal Science Education & Research, Vet School Office of Clinical Programs, Student Mental Health Community and Spirit Programs. Alumni, students, faculty members and staff not only donated but also promoted the event through social media engagement and campus pop-up events.
Since its inception in August 2022, Texas Tech’s Day of Giving has generated more than $2.2 million for university programs. Byron Kennedy, vice president for advancement said: “Day of Giving inspires me every year as I watch alumni, friends and supporters rally behind the programs they care about most. The ON&ON Campaign is focused on impact, and this year’s record-breaking results show how generosity transforms lives and strengthens our entire Texas Tech community.”
All gifts contributed during Day of Giving count toward ON&ON: The Campaign for Texas Tech University—publicly launched in October 2024—which aims to transform lives by supporting academic excellence; elevating campus life; building champions; and fueling future growth at Texas Tech.
An impact report detailing how these funds are used will be published in the fall. Those interested in contributing or learning more about specific projects can visit dayofgiving.ttu.edu.
