Governor Greg Abbott and the Texas Music Office have announced that the Seventh Annual Texas Sounds & Cities Conference will take place in Corpus Christi on November 5 and 6. The event, co-hosted by the Texas Music Office, the City of Corpus Christi, Visit Corpus Christi, and the Corpus Christi Film & Music Commission, aims to support growth in the state’s music industry.
“Texas is where live music lives,” said Governor Abbott. “Texas’ vibrant music industry supports local job creation while drawing visitors from around the globe, attracting a talented workforce across industries, and supporting business recruitment and expansion efforts throughout the state. I thank the Texas Music Office for helping communities large and small develop creative partnerships and grow new jobs.”
The conference will feature panel discussions about developing the Texas music industry and encourage statewide collaboration among Music Friendly Texas Certified Communities. Attendees will also discuss best practices to boost music tourism and generate local employment.
All certified communities under the Music Friendly Texas program are invited to attend. More information about registration is available at texassoundsandcities.com.
The Texas Music Office operates within the Governor’s Economic Development & Tourism Office. Established in 1990, it was the first state music office in the country. Since launching its Music Friendly Community Program in 2016, it has built a network of more than 80 certified community partners throughout Texas.
