Texas Governor Greg Abbott has deployed more emergency management personnel to Arizona to help with flood recovery efforts. This action follows a request from Arizona’s Department of Emergency and Military Affairs.
“Texans are no strangers to the devastating effects caused by severe weather,” said Governor Abbott. “Today, I directed the Texas Division of Emergency Management to deploy additional personnel to further support Arizona as they rebuild and recover from recent flooding. Texas will continue to assist our fellow Americans in their time of need.”
Under Governor Abbott’s direction, the Texas Division of Emergency Management has sent staff specializing in logistics, planning, and disaster finance. These teams are supporting Arizona’s Emergency Operations Center and field operations during the ongoing response.
This deployment adds to an earlier group of Texas emergency management personnel sent last week for the same purpose.
The assistance is provided through the Emergency Management Assistance Compact (EMAC), which is a system that allows states to share resources during disasters or emergencies. EMAC members can offer aid across disciplines, ensure protection for deployed staff, and receive reimbursement for mission-related expenses.
