A mansion located at 2930 Broadway in San Francisco’s Pacific Heights has sold for $42 million, setting a new record for the city’s most expensive home sale so far this year. The property, measuring 7,320 square feet, was sold off-market by the estate of Brooks Walker Jr., a business and civic leader who passed away last year at age 96. The home had been in the Walker family for about six decades.
The buyer was listed as HOS Pacific LLC, a California-based company with links to Texas. According to reports from the San Francisco Standard, the LLC is connected to Joseph O’Neill, a Texas oil executive and associate of former President George W. Bush.
This transaction follows another major deal on Broadway just one block away, where 2898 Broadway went into contract after being listed for $26 million. That property’s seller is Jim Willenborg, managing partner at Baker Street Partners; it was originally listed for $32 million in 2023.
San Francisco’s luxury housing market continues to see strong demand. “Sales of homes in San Francisco that were priced above $5 million were up 55 percent last month compared to the previous September,” according to recent market data. Additionally, total home sales increased by 35 percent year-over-year.
Despite its high price tag, the sale does not surpass San Francisco’s all-time residential record. That title belongs to Laurene Powell Jobs, who purchased a nearby mansion at 2840 Broadway last year for $71 million.
Elsewhere in the Bay Area, this year’s largest transaction occurred outside city limits: Green Gables estate sold last month for $85 million after initially being listed at $135 million.
