Twenty-six public schools in Texas have been named as the inaugural 2025 Lone Star Ribbon Schools, according to an announcement from the Texas Education Agency (TEA). Governor Greg Abbott recognized these schools for their strong academic performance and their work to close achievement gaps.
“These 26 schools represent the very best of Texas public education,” said Texas Education Commissioner Mike Morath. “This recognition reflects the hard work of our teachers, the perseverance of our students and the steadfast support of parents and communities. We applaud their achievement and thank Governor Abbott for recognizing and celebrating their success.”
The recognized schools are located in urban, suburban, and rural areas throughout Texas, showing that high academic achievement is possible across different types of communities.
The list of honored schools includes Barbers Hill Elementary North (Barbers Hill ISD), Kent Elementary and Rosemeade Elementary (Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD), George West Primary School (George West ISD), Harmony Science Academy – Katy and Harmony Science Academy – Sugar Land (Harmony Public Schools Houston West), Harmony Science Academy – Euless (Harmony Public Schools North Texas), Carnegie Vanguard High School, Project Chrysalis Middle School, and Thompson Elementary (Houston ISD), Hunt School (Hunt ISD), Diaz-Villarreal Elementary (La Joya ISD), Meyer Elementary (Lamar CISD), Daiches Elementary, D D Hachar Elementary, and Macdonell Elementary (Laredo ISD), Mumford Elementary (Mumford ISD), Palo Pinto Elementary (Palo Pinto ISD), PJSA Thomas Jefferson T-STEM Early College High School (Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD), Delia Gonzalez Garcia Elementary and RT Barrera Elementary (Roma ISD), Harry Shimotsu Elementary (Sharyland ISD), Markham Elementary (Tidehaven ISD), Tyler ISD Early College High School (Tyler ISD), Stanton-Smith Elementary (Whitehouse ISD) and Dodd Elementary (Wylie ISD).
