The Texas Education Agency (TEA) has launched a new toll-free hotline aimed at supporting students experiencing homelessness. The TEHCY Support Hotline connects families, educators, and caregivers with trained experts who can provide immediate technical assistance and guidance.

“Families should never have to navigate the challenges of homelessness alone,” said Texas Education Agency Commissioner Mike Morath. “Now, educators, parents and caregivers can pick up the phone and immediately connect with someone who understands their situation and can guide them to the right resources.”

Alongside the hotline, TEHCY Support offers a web-based intake form for submitting requests at any time. These tools are designed to improve coordination across Texas by leveraging advanced data-tracking systems. The initiative builds on the existing TEHCY Regional Network, which works in partnership with 20 Education Service Centers across the state to support more than 1,200 school systems.

The McKinney-Vento Act requires that school systems identify, enroll, and support students experiencing homelessness. The new TEHCY Support services aim to help fulfill these obligations by providing quick access to resources and assistance.

The hotline is available Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. CST at 1-855-85TEHCY (1-855-858-3429).
