Acting Texas Comptroller Kelly Hancock has announced the distribution of $1.5 billion in local sales tax allocations for February to cities, counties, transit systems, and special purpose districts. This amount represents a 2.5 percent increase compared to February 2025.

“These allocations are based on sales made in December by businesses that report tax monthly; October, November and December sales by quarterly filers; and 2025 sales by businesses that report tax annually,” Hancock stated.

Cities will receive $963.4 million, reflecting a 2.9 percent rise from the previous year and a year-to-date increase of 3.5 percent. Transit systems are allocated $309.4 million, which is a decrease of 0.7 percent from last February but shows a year-to-date growth of 1.3 percent. Counties will get $95.1 million, marking an increase of 5.8 percent over last year and a year-to-date gain of 4.6 percent. Special purpose districts are set to receive $156.8 million, up by 4.7 percent from February 2025 and showing a year-to-date rise of 7.6 percent.
