Potential homebuyers in Texas now have access to a free online tool designed to help them determine if they qualify for mortgage loans and down payment assistance. The Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs (TDHCA) has introduced the Quick Check Eligibility Tool as part of its Homebuyer Program.

The tool allows users to input information about their credit history, income, and savings. In just a few minutes, individuals can find out if they are eligible for assistance with down payments and affordable mortgage loan options.

According to TDHCA, “A few minutes is all that’s needed to help potential homebuyers determine if they qualify for down payment assistance and affordable mortgage loan options. And it’s FREE!”

The TDHCA Homebuyer Program works through a network of approved mortgage lenders who offer support with both down payments and closing costs. These resources are intended to help buyers cover the gap between their available finances and the total amount required to purchase a home.

After using the Quick Check Eligibility Tool, applicants may be connected with an approved lender who can provide guidance on mortgage choices as well as assistance with related expenses. More information about the program is available at WelcomeHome.texas.gov.

“After completing the Quick Check Eligibility Tool, you can be connected to an approved lender to help you navigate mortgage options and help with down payment and closing costs,” TDHCA stated.
