TDHCA board approves nearly $10 million in grants to address homelessness

At its meeting on September 4, the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs (TDHCA) Governing Board approved 88 awards for the 2025 Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) funding cycle. The total amount to be distributed is approximately $9.8 million, which will go toward assisting individuals experiencing homelessness or those at risk of becoming homeless.

The ESG funds are intended to support street outreach, emergency shelter operations, rapid re-housing efforts, and homelessness prevention activities such as housing relocation and short- to medium-term rental assistance.

Organizations providing services in several Continuum of Care Regions across Texas will receive these funds. Allocations include $833,343 for the City of San Antonio/Bexar County, $645,019 for the City of Austin/Travis County, $1,312,422 for Dallas and Irving/Dallas County, and $642,630 for Fort Worth/Arlington/Tarrant County. Other regions receiving funding are El Paso City/El Paso County ($266,935), Waco/McLennan County ($84,864), Texas Balance of State ($4,102,451), Amarillo ($124,612), Wichita Falls/Wise-Palo Pinto-Wichita-Archer counties ($121,151), Lubbock/Lubbock County ($92,060), Houston/Pasadena/Conroe/Harris-Ft. Bend-Montgomery Counties ($1,455,363), and Bryan/College Station/Brazos Valley ($163,740).
