TCEQ approves more than $875K in environmental violation penalties

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) has approved fines amounting to $710,923 against 23 regulated entities for breaches of state environmental laws. These penalties were authorized during the commission’s most recent meeting.

According to TCEQ, agreed orders were issued across several categories: nine for air quality violations, two for industrial wastewater discharge, two multi-media cases, one involving municipal solid waste, three related to municipal wastewater discharge, three concerning petroleum storage tanks, and one involving a public water system. Default orders were given in two categories: one for municipal solid waste and another for municipal wastewater discharge.

Additionally, on October 28 and November 4, 2025, the executive director approved further penalties totaling $164,737 against 52 entities.

The total amount of fines recently approved by TCEQ comes to $875,660.
