One of Dallas’ historic hotels, The Stoneleigh, will reopen next spring following a major renovation and a shift in brand affiliation. The hotel, located at 2927 Maple Avenue and often called “The Grand Dame of Uptown,” will transition from Le Méridien to Marriott Bonvoy’s Autograph Collection. This change is part of a broader trend in Dallas where established properties are being updated to attract guests interested in unique local experiences.
The Autograph Collection includes over 330 independent hotels known for their distinctive design and connection to their locations. Other North Texas members include Hotel Drover and The Sinclair in Fort Worth as well as the upcoming HALL Park Hotel in Frisco.
Brookfield Real Estate Group owns the property and has selected chef Michael White, who has won a James Beard Award, to lead its new culinary program. Boutique design studio Fettle is managing the renovation, which aims to blend elements of old Hollywood style with modern design influences inspired by Dorothy Draper. The updated interiors are expected to reference The Stoneleigh’s origins during the Jazz Age.
Planned updates also include an improved pool and terrace area, a new fitness center, and event programming intended to reestablish the hotel’s role as a center for culture with live music and curated events. According to state permit filings from May, the cost estimate for the initial phase of renovations is $2.725 million. However, these filings are often preliminary; they currently only cover work on the basement and first-floor public spaces with completion projected by late November. Further filings are expected for additional phases of work.
The Stoneleigh originally opened just ten years after The Adolphus, making it Dallas’ second-oldest hotel. Its latest transformation is part of ongoing changes within Dallas’ hospitality sector as hotels seek to update their offerings while maintaining ties to local history.
