San Angelo marked the opening of Roosevelt Lofts, a new affordable housing complex for residents aged 55 and older. The development offers 25 income-restricted units at 50 North Chadbourne Street. Roosevelt Lofts was supported by the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs (TDHCA) through a 2023 9% Housing Tax Credit allocation, receiving $998,280 in tax credits over ten years, with a total project value estimated at $8.4 million.

The property is located in the former Roosevelt Hotel, which was originally constructed in 1929 as the Rainbow Hotel and designed by John G. Becker. It is situated two blocks from San Angelo City Hall, according to information from the Texas Historical Commission.

Those interested in applying for residency at Roosevelt Lofts can contact the management office at (325) 242-9800. For more information on affordable housing options across Texas, TDHCA provides resources through its Help for Texans platform at https://www.tdhca.texas.gov/help-for-texans.
