The Pennsylvania State Council of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) recently held its 2025 conference, where several key updates were presented to delegates.

During the event, IAM Chief of Staff Vinny Addeo addressed the current political environment in Washington, D.C., emphasizing how it affects union members. He stressed the importance of advocating for union rights and resisting efforts to silence workers. Richie Johnsen, General Vice President for IAM Air Transport Territory, reported that mechanics working in air transport, especially at American Airlines, are now earning more than $70 per hour—a record high for the sector. David Sullivan, General Vice President for IAM Eastern Territory, spoke about the organization’s commitment to defending worker rights against challenges from policymakers in Washington.

Delegates at the conference gave strong support to Janelle Stelson, a pro-labor candidate running for Congress in Pennsylvania’s 10th district. The meeting also included presentations on topics such as union litigation, OSHA safety standards, anti-union campaign tactics, and community initiatives.

The conference concluded with a call to action urging members to participate in upcoming elections by supporting pro-labor candidates and Supreme Court judges in Pennsylvania.
