A mansion in Dallas’ Preston Hollow neighborhood, once owned by the late oil executive Cary Maguire, has been listed for sale at $28.5 million. The property, located at 4606 Park Lane, was built in 1985 for Maguire, who founded Maguire Oil Company and Maguire Energy Company. Maguire was also known for his philanthropic contributions to Southern Methodist University.
The nearly 21,000-square-foot Neo-Georgian home sits on 3.2 acres and is one of the most expensive residential listings within Dallas city limits. According to a report from the Dallas Morning News, its price per square foot is $1,362, surpassed only by the Crespi Estate’s current listing at $64 million and $2,362 per square foot.
Ownership records indicate that the Four Thousand Trust acquired the estate in 2022 after Maguire’s death. Since then, significant renovations have been completed to update the property. “The whole home has been completely redone,” said Compass broker Faisal Halum, who is handling the listing.
Features of the house include a great hall spanning the first floor with refinished parquet floors and custom fixtures. There is also a two-story den with a 23-foot ceiling, a glass conservatory, an Art Deco bar, and a barrel-vaulted banquet hall designed for gatherings. Additional amenities include a black-lacquered lounge, wine room, and a sculptural brass tub in the primary suite.
The estate has hosted several notable figures over its history. Former U.S. Presidents George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush visited the property along with Gerald Ford and Margaret Thatcher. Other guests included Czech President Vaclav Klaus and former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Roger Staubach. The mansion previously housed Maguire’s collection of presidential memorabilia such as Benjamin Harrison’s White House china and busts of every U.S. president.
Halum described acquiring land in Preston Hollow as challenging: “It’s not just a house — it’s a stage.” He added that securing both acreage and legacy in this part of Dallas is rare.
