The Texas Department of Insurance announced on April 9 that it will hold a Speak Up, Texas! event in San Antonio on Friday, April 17.

Amanda Crawford, the Texas insurance commissioner, will discuss topics including the home and auto insurance market, offer tips for shopping for insurance, and explain how the department can assist Texans. The event aims to give residents an opportunity to share their ideas directly with state officials.

“I’m excited to meet with Texans and hear their solutions to strengthen and improve the insurance market,” Crawford said.

The meeting is scheduled from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at UT San Antonio’s Downtown Campus in the Durango Building’s Riverwalk Room B at 501 W. Cesar E. Chavez Blvd. For those unable to attend in person, suggestions for improving home and auto insurance can also be submitted online at www.tdi.texas.gov/speakuptexas/index.html.

Crawford was appointed as insurance commissioner by Governor Greg Abbott in February.
