The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) is urging all its districts and locals to identify and support members interested in attending the 2026 Pride at Work Convention, scheduled for June 2-4 in Minneapolis, according to an April 9 announcement.

The union highlights the importance of building a more inclusive labor movement by supporting LGBTQIA+ workers. The convention, organized by Pride at Work—an AFL-CIO constituency group—focuses on advancing equality, dignity, and respect for LGBTQIA+ individuals across workplaces, unions, and communities.

In a message addressed to the IAM union family, the Executive Council said that “Pride at Work’s mission reflects what we stand for as a union: building a labor movement that cherishes diversity, promotes inclusion and ensures safety and dignity for all.” The statement further noted that guided by the principle that “an injury to one is an injury to all,” IAM will continue opposing discrimination in all forms while strengthening solidarity among its diverse membership.

The council also pointed out ongoing efforts within IAM such as expanding Human Rights Committees throughout every district and local. These initiatives are aimed at ensuring every member feels welcomed, respected, and fully included within the organization.

Credentialing for the event begins June 1 at the Marquette Hotel. Members are encouraged to reserve hotel rooms by May 1 due to limited availability. Early registration ends on April 19. Questions about participation can be directed to IAM Human Rights Director Nicole Fears via email.

“When we show up, engage, and stand together, we build a stronger, more inclusive IAM Union and a more powerful labor movement for all working people,” the Executive Council said.
