Governor Greg Abbott spoke at the 2025 Texas Nuclear Summit, emphasizing the state’s leadership in nuclear energy development. He was honored with the “Atomic Texan Award” during the event.
“As the Texas economy continues to grow, the lifeblood of every business increasingly depends upon affordable, reliable power,” Governor Abbott said. “To power our future, Texas must be the epicenter for nuclear power generation. Altogether, we have amassed the resources, infrastructure, and the strategy to be able to advance the nuclear renaissance here in the state of Texas.”
Abbott referenced his previous State of the State address where he called for Texas to lead what he described as a “nuclear renaissance.” He pointed out that in June he signed House Bill 14 into law, which established the Texas Advanced Nuclear Energy Office (TANEO) and created a $350 million fund to support nuclear energy industry development in Texas. The governor also thanked both legislators and advocates for their efforts to position Texas as a center of the nuclear energy supply chain.
The event included participation from Reed Clay, President of the Texas Nuclear Alliance, and Jarred Shaffer, Director of TANEO.
Additional photos from the summit are expected to be released later.
