Governor Greg Abbott reappointed Douglass “Doug” Boyd to the Gulf States Marine Fisheries Commission for a term set to expire on March 17, 2029, according to an April 14 announcement.
The appointment is part of ongoing efforts to promote interstate cooperation and the sustainable management of fisheries along the Gulf of Mexico. The commission aims to develop joint programs for the protection and better use of marine resources while preventing waste.
Boyd, who resides in Boerne, is the owner and president of Doug Boyd Builder. He serves as a national and state board member of the Coastal Conservation Association and participates on advisory panels for reef fish and red drum within the Gulf Council. His previous roles include serving as vice chairman of both the Sport Fishing and Boating Partnership Council under the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, as well as chairing the National Marine Fisheries Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council. Boyd holds a Bachelor of Science in Banking and Finance from University of North Texas.
