Governor Greg Abbott has called for a statewide moment of silence at 7:00 AM Central Time on October 7, 2025, to honor the victims of the terrorist attacks in Israel that occurred on October 7, 2023. The proclamation also establishes a day of observance for those who lost their lives and those still held hostage following the attack by Hamas.
In his statement, Governor Abbott said: “The State of Texas recognizes the inherent value of life and condemns all acts of hate while remaining committed to promoting prosperity, security, and dignity for all. Two years ago, inconceivable horrors emerged against the people of Israel, marking a day in history that our world must never forget. On the Day of Observance for Israel, we must reiterate our position that hatred and evil have no place in our world as we honor and remember the victims, their families, and their fellow countrymen.”
The Governor’s proclamation encourages Texans to pause and reflect on the impact of these events as well as ongoing efforts to support peace and security.
