Governor Greg Abbott has announced the reappointment of Amber Batson and the appointment of Dan Syphrett to the Gulf Coast Authority Board of Directors. Batson’s term will expire on August 31, 2027, while Syphrett’s term will end on August 31, 2026. The Gulf Coast Authority is responsible for managing water systems, controlling water pollution, and overseeing waste disposal within its district. The board also conducts studies and research focused on water pollution control and waste management.
Amber Batson, from Tomball, serves as Project Manager and Associate Vice President at Carollo Engineers. She holds corporate memberships in several professional organizations including the Texas Water Association, the American Public Works Association, and the Water Environment Federation. Batson is a licensed professional engineer with credentials from both the Texas Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors as well as the Florida Board of Professional Engineers. She earned her Bachelor of Science and Master of Engineering degrees in Environmental Engineering from the University of Florida.
Dan Syphrett, who lives in Stowell, is retired after working as an electric utility manager. He participates in local community efforts such as serving on the East Chambers Education Foundation Gala committee and being involved with the St. Louis Church Rice Ball Committee. Syphrett received his Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Economics from Texas A&M University.
