Governor Greg Abbott appointed Frank Denton and reappointed Kathy A. Powell Stewart, D.N.P., and Ron Widup to the Texas State Technical College System Board of Regents for terms ending August 31, 2031, according to an April 9 announcement.

The appointments are part of the governor’s ongoing efforts to provide leadership across Texas through key positions in state institutions. The Office of the Texas Governor is responsible for making such appointments as part of its role in promoting economic opportunities, education, and public safety while assisting constituents statewide, according to the official website.

Frank Denton from Conroe is president and owner of Denton Investment Corporation and Lube Time, Inc. He has previously chaired the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners and served on several other boards related to business regulation and medical oversight. Kathy A. Powell Stewart from San Angelo retired after a 46-year nursing career that included serving as administrative director at Shannon Medical Center. She is involved with multiple professional associations related to emergency nursing and air medical services. Ron Widup from Arlington serves as chief technical marketing officer for Vector Power and holds leadership roles with industry organizations such as the InterNational Electrical Testing Association (NETA) and Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). He has also contributed as an advisory board member for TSTC-Waco’s Electrical Power & Controls Program.

Greg Abbott serves as the 48th governor leading the Texas Governor’s office, which advances cultural understanding through commissions supporting opportunities for women and people with disabilities according to the official website.
