Governor Greg Abbott has appointed seven new members to the Texas Nutrition Advisory Committee. The committee is responsible for developing nutritional guidelines for residents across the state.

Ann Shippy, M.D., Commissioner Sid Miller, and Natalie Bachynsky, Ph.D., were appointed for terms ending September 1, 2027. Padmaja Patel, M.D., Cheryl Sew Hoy, Jaclyn Albin, M.D., and Kathleen Davis, Ph.D., were named to terms expiring September 1, 2029.

Ann Shippy, M.D. of Austin is a physician and author who leads Ann Shippy MD and Every Life Well. She holds board certifications in Internal Medicine and Functional Medicine and is a member of several professional medical associations. Her background includes experience as a chemical engineer before entering medicine.

Sid Miller of Stephenville has served as commissioner of the Texas Department of Agriculture since 2015. He previously served in the Texas House of Representatives and has a background in farming.

Natalie Bachynsky, Ph.D. of Lovelady is a family nurse practitioner and owner of Houston County Family Medical Clinic. She participates in multiple professional organizations and serves on various boards related to nursing and rural medicine.

Padmaja Patel, M.D. of Midland is chief medical officer at Nudj Health and president of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine (ACLM). She also holds leadership roles in local health alliances and national quality forums.

Cheryl Sew Hoy of Austin is founder and CEO of Tiny Health. Her company published research in 2025 on microbiome interventions for infant eczema and supports thousands of providers nationwide.

Jaclyn Albin, M.D. of Bedford teaches pediatrics and internal medicine at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. She serves on advisory boards for nutrition-focused organizations.

Kathleen Davis, Ph.D. of Denton is an associate professor at Texas Woman’s University with editorial responsibilities for journals in nutrition education.
