Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Michael Davis to the Twelfth Court of Appeals, Place 3. The appointment will take effect on November 1, 2025. Davis will serve until December 31, 2026, or until a successor is elected and qualified.

Michael Davis currently serves as Judge of the 369th Judicial District Court in Anderson, Cherokee, and Leon Counties. He is also an adjunct professor at Texas Tech University School of Law. His professional affiliations include membership in the State Bar of Texas (SBOT), where he serves on the board of directors for the Judicial Section and as a section representative on the SBOT Board of Directors. Davis is involved with several sections within SBOT: Judicial, Litigation, Family Law, and Criminal Law Sections.

Davis is a member of organizations such as the Federalist Society, Anderson County Bar Association, Cherokee County Bar Association, Tri-County Bar Association, and George Mason University Antonin Scalia Law School Law and Economics Center. He chairs the board for the Crisis Center of Anderson and Cherokee Counties and is both a member and past president of the Rotary Club of Palestine.

His background includes service in the United States Air Force from 1995 to 2001 with an Honorable Discharge. His education credentials are an Associate of Applied Science in Criminal Justice from Montgomery Community College in Maryland; a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Philosophy from Texas State University; and a Juris Doctor from Texas Tech University School of Law.
