Governor Abbott appoints members to state councils on land conservation, education, homelessness

Governor Greg Abbott has announced new appointments to several state councils and task forces this week.

Lindsey Gohlke has been appointed and Romey Swanson reappointed to the Farm and Ranch Lands Conservation Council, with terms ending February 1, 2031. The council provides advice and assistance to the Texas Farm and Ranch Lands Conservation Program (TFRLCP), including selecting applicants for grant funding.

For the Governor’s Task Force on the Governance of Early Childhood Education and Care, Abbott named Peter J. Holt as chair. He also appointed Jeff Austin III, Leslie Callahan, Lori Gabbert Charney, Grant Coates, Reagan Curran, Tracy Hanson, Ed.D., Marisela Nava, John “J.” Puckett, Jennifer Stockemer, Ph.D., and Nancy Windham to serve until September 1, 2027. The task force is charged with addressing governance and operational challenges within Texas’ early childhood education system.

Scott Charbonneau was appointed to the Texas Interagency Council for the Homeless for a term that will last at the Governor’s discretion. This council works to coordinate state resources and services focused on homelessness.

“These appointments reflect our commitment to ensuring effective leadership across key areas impacting Texans,” Governor Abbott said in a statement.
