Governor Abbott appoints Katherine McDaniel to 498th Judicial District Court

Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Katherine McDaniel to serve as judge of the 498th Judicial District Court in Kendall County. Her term will last until December 31, 2026, or until a successor is elected and qualified.

McDaniel currently works as the first assistant district attorney for the Kendall County Criminal District Attorney’s Office. She also serves on the Texas Violent Gang Task Force by appointment of the Governor. In addition, she is a member of several professional organizations, including the Texas District and County Attorneys’ Association Journal Editorial Board, State Bar of Texas, Kendall County Bar Association, Texas Bar College, and the Texas Prosecutors’ Society.

Her community involvement includes serving as a steering committee member for the Kendall County Behavioral Health Advisory Coalition and as secretary on the board of directors for the Boerne Police Foundation. She is also involved with the TMI School Community Engagement Council as sports banquet chair and has presented nationwide on search and seizure law.

McDaniel earned her Bachelor of Arts in History from The University of Texas at Austin and her Juris Doctor from Texas Tech University School of Law.
