Governor Greg Abbott announced on Mar. 26 the appointment of four individuals to the Red River Authority Board of Directors. Tonya Detten was reappointed, while Ron Mullins, Troy Weber, and Ruben Arias were newly appointed. Detten, Mullins, and Weber will serve terms expiring August 11, 2031. Arias will serve a term expiring August 11, 2027.
The appointments are significant because the Red River Authority oversees the control and development of water resources in the Red River watershed and its Texas tributaries.
Detten is retired and previously worked as director of benefits and systems at PanTeXas Deterrence. She serves as board president for Highland Park Independent School District’s school board. She holds degrees from West Texas A&M University.
Mullins is also retired and served as a utility regulatory officer for the authority. He has held leadership roles with regional water utilities associations and community organizations in Archer City.
Weber is retired from Texas Instruments and leads Weber Advisors, Inc. He volunteers at Parkside Baptist Church and Center Cross Soup Kitchen in Denison. He graduated from Texas A&M University with a degree in chemical engineering.
Arias owns Custom Water Services, LLC in Amarillo and formerly supervised process control at Osage Surface Water Treatment Plant for the city. He serves on boards related to water utilities in the Panhandle region.
