Governor Greg Abbott and the Texas Military Preparedness Commission have announced a $17 million loan to the city of Del Rio from the Texas Military Value Revolving Loan Fund (TMVRLF). The funding will be used for two major water infrastructure projects: rehabilitating the San Felipe East Springs Containment Wall and expanding and modernizing Del Rio’s Water Treatment Plant. These upgrades are intended to increase water capacity for both the city and Laughlin Air Force Base.
“Texas is proud to support the City of Del Rio and the Laughlin Air Force Base as we invest in critical water infrastructure that Texans depend on,” said Governor Abbott. “These funds will strengthen the local community, support mission readiness at Laughlin, and advance our commitment to a strong military community across Texas. I thank the Texas Military Preparedness Commission for their investment and dedication to the future of Southwest Texas and our military communities.”
The TMVRLF is a loan program that offers financial assistance to defense communities in Texas by supporting projects aimed at enhancing the value of military bases within those communities. The fund is financed through general obligation bonds.
