The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has extended the deadline for Texans affected by the Fourth of July weekend flooding to apply for Individual Assistance. Governor Greg Abbott announced that, following his request, residents in qualifying counties now have until September 28 to submit claims and report damages to FEMA.

“Texas continues to rebuild and recover in the communities impacted by catastrophic floods over the Fourth of July weekend,” said Governor Abbott. “Together, with our federal partners, we will ensure that all Texans who qualify for financial assistance have ample time to apply. I thank FEMA for extending the Individual Assistance registration period to September 28th for Texans who continue to heal from this devastating tragedy.”

Residents in Burnet, Guadalupe, Kerr, Kimble, McCulloch, Menard, San Saba, Tom Green, Travis, and Williamson counties may be eligible for financial support through FEMA’s Individual Assistance program. This program helps cover disaster-related expenses.

Texans can apply online at disasterassistance.gov or call 800-621-3362. Disaster Recovery Centers are also available for those seeking more information or help with their applications. Local officials have opened additional outreach centers with state, federal, and non-profit support.

Governor Abbott has continued efforts to aid flood recovery across Texas. Actions include presenting relief checks alongside the Vaqueros del Mar Texas Flood Relief Fund to families in affected areas and announcing over $40 million in long-term funding with the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country. He has also worked on securing approvals for various counties under Presidential Disaster Declarations and expanded eligibility for benefits such as SNAP replacement and disaster unemployment assistance.

Other initiatives involve touring damaged areas with local leaders and federal officials like General Steven Nordhaus; launching emotional support services; increasing emergency response readiness; deploying resources ahead of storms; and providing updates on ongoing recovery operations throughout Central Texas.
