De La Vega Development announced on Mar. 25 that its mixed-use project, The Central, is moving forward with new high-density residential and luxury hospitality components in Dallas.

The announcement marks a significant step for the 27-acre district as it aims to add more housing and amenities to the area. The development is expected to bring economic activity and new options for residents and visitors.

Artemio De La Vega, CEO of De La Vega Development, said the project is currently in the permitting stage for a 400-unit residential high-rise and a comprehensive wellness club. A contract has also been secured with a third-party developer to build a Marriott Autograph Collection hotel at the site. The hotel will have about 200 rooms, with construction possibly starting in early 2027. Meanwhile, the wellness club could break ground as soon as this summer.

De La Vega said the health center “is designed to be a premier regional destination, featuring multiple swimming pools, a gym, a spa and an integrated restaurant.” The upcoming residential tower follows completion of The Oliver—a previous phase consisting of a 19-story apartment building developed with StreetLights Residential—which opened in October 2024 at 2750 North Haskell Avenue.

The master plan includes three restaurants around a two-acre park; two are expected to be new concepts from outside Dallas-Fort Worth. There are also plans being considered for an office building next to the future hotel. Since land acquisition began in 2017, progress was delayed by pandemic-related issues but resumed in fall of 2022. De La Vega said that recent developments show that “the long-term vision for the strategically located acreage is finally coming together.”
