A long-closed hotel in Addison is being transformed into a luxury destination by Centurion American Development Group, led by Mehrdad Moayedi. The former Crowne Plaza at 14315 Midway Road is undergoing a comprehensive renovation and will reopen as Hotel Dax early next year. The project features 426 rooms, nearly 32,000 square feet of meeting space, four new dining options, a resort-style pool, and a TopGolf Swing Suite. These additions are designed to attract both business travelers and local residents.
Centurion acquired the property in August through an affiliated LLC. The redevelopment represents one of the largest hospitality investments in Addison, which is recognized for its many restaurants and steady flow of corporate visitors.
Mehrdad Moayedi commented on the redevelopment: “There is demand for higher-quality meeting and event space in Addison,” he said. “Hotel Dax is meant to add options to the town.”
Centurion American Development Group has experience with notable hotel projects. The firm previously managed the $255 million restoration of downtown Dallas’ Statler Hotel, reopening it as a luxury property in 2017.
The transformation of the Addison property required significant work after it closed in April 2020 due to financial challenges and repair needs from weather damage. Originally built in 1984 and last renovated in 2013, the hotel had previously received InterContinental Hotels Group’s “renovation of the year” award.
For this latest project, Centurion fully rebuilt the interior while maintaining much of the building’s exterior structure, including its glass ceiling. Merriman Anderson Architects handled interior design work, and Dreamscape Hospitality will operate Hotel Dax.
The new food offerings include Top Brass (an American bistro), Bar Dax (a social and sports bar), an outdoor pool lounge accessible to locals for private events, and Brewed (a coffee shop and market). Hotel Dax will also participate in Marriott Bonvoy’s loyalty program.
