Creative Tank, a production company based in Santa Clarita, California, announced on Apr. 8 plans to invest $50 million in building sound stages and offices at its upcoming Super Studios USA development in Mansfield, Texas. According to a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, construction is scheduled to begin this August at 561 Easy Drive and is expected to be completed by next June.

The project will add significant film production infrastructure to the region. The planned buildings will cover 81,000 square feet within a larger 75-acre studio-city complex. Such developments are part of broader efforts to attract film industry projects to Texas.

The filings with the state are preliminary and may change as the project moves forward. Richard Judson, business manager for Creative Tank, said that the facility will feature two twin sound stages—effectively providing four separate sound stages—as well as a backlot with buildings suitable for use as set pieces. In addition to production facilities, plans presented previously included retail and hospitality elements; however, Judson clarified that any residential component would consist only of condos or townhouses.

Texas has seen an increase in interest from filmmakers following a boost in state film incentives funding by the legislature last year. Nearby Fort Worth is home to an expanding studio operated by Taylor Sheridan, creator of “Yellowstone,” while other productions such as “The Chosen” have filmed scenes locally.

As more companies invest in studios across Texas—including new projects led by actors like Zachary Levi—the state’s profile as a destination for television and movie production continues to grow.
