A distinctive home in Austin, known as the Bouldin Treehouse, has entered the market through an appearance on HGTV’s “Zillow Gone Wild.” The property, located at 801 Post Oak Street, features a trunk-inspired design with wood cladding, round floor plans, and a spiral staircase. The main house is 1,300 square feet with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. It is listed for $1.6 million, or about $1,227 per square foot. In addition to the main residence, there is a one-bedroom accessory dwelling unit adjacent to a retro Airstream RV.

Christina Campbell has owned the parcel since 2007. The home was constructed in 2013 and has been offered as a rental intermittently since 2017 for no less than $3,200 per month based on data from Zillow.

Katie Jackson of Christie’s International Real Estate @properties Lone Star is handling the listing and promoted it during last week’s episode of “Zillow Gone Wild” on HGTV.

Travis County appraised the property at $1.2 million this year, which is lower than last year’s appraisal of $1.4 million. The lot itself was valued at $625,000 while improvements were appraised at $577,000.

Although the unique architecture and additional dwelling unit are highlighted on the listing website, Jackson said her marketing approach focuses more on redevelopment potential rather than solely promoting its unconventional design. She noted that “the quarter-acre lot is big enough to accommodate up to three structures under the Austin HOME Initiative.”

Jackson explained that after initially listing the home on MLS earlier this spring without receiving satisfactory offers, she was contacted by producers from HGTV following its appearance on Zillow.

Austin’s housing market continues to adapt to increased supply and cautious buyers. According to local agents, sellers have retained some leverage in lower-priced suburbs this summer; however, luxury properties like this one remain largely favorable for buyers as corporate interest in Austin appears to be waning.
