Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) and its airline and cargo partners have reached new multi-year agreements that will set the financial and operational framework for airport growth over the next decade. The finalized Airline Use and Lease Agreements, along with Signatory Cargo Agreements, establish how airport revenues will support daily operations and fund AUS’s expansion program, which now includes plans for 32 additional airline gates.
The agreements outline major capital projects for the next ten years, detail how airline rates and charges are determined, and commit participating airlines and cargo companies to long-term operations at AUS. Airlines involved include Southwest Airlines, Delta Air Lines, United Airlines, American Airlines, Alaska Airlines, FedEx, and UPS.
These agreements govern how fees are assessed for airport-owned facilities such as runways, gates, ticket counters, baggage systems, and aircraft parking. This cost-recovery structure is designed to support long-term investment and maintain financial stability.
Key projects supported by these agreements include a new 26-gate Concourse B aimed at supporting passenger growth; a new Arrivals and Departures Hall to modernize access points and centralize TSA screening; a six-gate Concourse M for future operational flexibility; redevelopment of Concourse A in the Barbara Jordan Terminal; and campus-wide utility upgrades to expand power, cooling, water, and IT systems. With expanded project scope due to rising passenger demand and airline needs, the total program cost is expected to increase from $4 billion to over $5 billion.
According to airport officials: “Together, these agreements position AUS to support Central Texas’ continued growth, strengthen regional connectivity, and deliver long-term economic benefits for the Austin business community.”
