Amplify Credit Union announced on Apr. 8 that its employees recorded a total of 2,588 volunteer hours in 2025 through the organization’s Community Care Hours program, marking the third year in a row of increased employee participation.

The program allows Amplify employees to use paid time off for volunteer work supporting nonprofits and public organizations. This approach is designed to strengthen both employee engagement and community support. Full-time staff receive up to 40 hours annually for volunteering, while part-time staff are given 20 hours.

Angela Shaw, senior vice president of talent at Amplify, said, “There is no separation between how we serve our members and how we show up in our communities. Volunteerism is part of our culture, not an add-on. When employees are given the time and flexibility to support causes they care about, it strengthens their connection to each other, to our members and to the mission of the credit union. That sense of purpose carries into the work we do every day.”

Research from America’s Charities indicates that most adults feel healthier after volunteering; additional findings from Health Action Alliance suggest companies offering volunteer time off can see lower turnover rates and higher productivity among staff. At Amplify Credit Union, those who contribute at least 40 volunteer hours or serve on nonprofit boards are recognized as Community Ambassadors—a distinction awarded to 24 employees in 2025.

Shaw also said, “Community Care Hours reflect how we think about the role of work in people’s lives. When employees have the opportunity to serve their communities, they feel more connected to the organization and to each other. That connection strengthens our culture, supports long-term growth and helps us stay true to the cooperative values we were founded on. Service is not separate from our business, it is part of how we operate every day.”

In addition to its internal programs like Community Care Hours—which has supported organizations such as Caritas of Austin and Keep Austin Fed—Amplify operates within a broader regional context where organizations like the Austin Chamber of Commerce promote inclusive growth, enhance economic collaboration through advocacy efforts across neighborhoods, rely on board leadership for initiatives, cover economic efforts throughout Austin, build partnerships for advancement, and provide events supporting business growth.

Looking ahead into 2026, Amplify plans a shift from an hours-based benchmark toward encouraging all employees—regardless of capacity—to participate by volunteering at least one hour each year.
