Governor Greg Abbott spoke at the Greater Waco Chamber of Commerce “State of the State” luncheon, highlighting recent legislative achievements from the 89th Legislature. He emphasized efforts to strengthen Texas’ economy and maintain its position as a leading state for business.
“Together, we are shaping the Texas economy as the best state for business development, job opportunities, and exports,” said Governor Abbott. “We will continue to remove the red tape and take strategic steps to remain the No. 1 state for doing business. Thank you to the Greater Waco Chamber of Commerce, small business owners, and the countless innovators who keep Texas tough and resilient.”
The event included participation from several local and state officials such as Representative David Cook, Representative Pat Curry, Representative Angelia Orr, McLennan County Judge Scott Felton, McLennan County Sheriff Parnell McNamara, Waco Mayor Jim Holmes, along with other leaders in government and business.
Governor Abbott addressed economic development policies designed to encourage further growth throughout Texas. He acknowledged the role of organizations like the Greater Waco Chamber of Commerce in supporting Waco’s development into a growing community that contributes significantly to Texas’ overall economic strength. The Governor also reaffirmed his commitment to enhancing conditions for small businesses in Texas.
He discussed progress on key legislative priorities identified in his State of the State address. According to Governor Abbott, measures passed during this session include cutting regulatory barriers, reducing property taxes, strengthening the state’s electric grid, and expanding school choice options for families.
At the end of his remarks, Governor Abbott pledged ongoing support for child safety initiatives in Texas and indicated he looks forward to signing camp safety legislation into law soon.
