Abbott appoints three members to Texas Board of Respiratory Care

Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Matthew Goldwater and reappointed Samuel Brown and Dr. Hammad Qureshi to the Texas Board of Respiratory Care. Their terms will run until February 1, 2031. The board provides advice to the Texas Medical Board, sets rules for certifying and permitting respiratory therapists, establishes minimum qualifications for practitioners, and determines standards of conduct and disciplinary actions.

Matthew Goldwater, from Georgetown, is a senior sales executive specializing in ventilation at Dräger. He is affiliated with the American Association for Respiratory Care and coaches youth baseball in Georgetown. Goldwater holds a Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Therapy from Texas State University and an MBA from The University of Texas at Tyler.

Samuel Brown, based in Marshall, works as assistant IT manager and network administrator at Louis A. Williams & Associates. His previous roles include computer lab technician at East Texas Baptist University (ETBU). Brown has also coached little league basketball and football with i20 Sports and the Boys and Girls Club of America. He serves as an ordained minister and Teen Ministry teacher at Church On Purpose. Brown earned his Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems from ETBU and a Master’s degree in Information Systems from Tarleton State University.

Dr. Hammad Qureshi of Tomball is certified in Pulmonary Disease, Critical Care Medicine, and Internal Medicine. He works with the Internal Medicine Residency Program at Methodist Hospital The Woodlands and holds an academic position at Weill Cornell Medicine. Dr. Qureshi completed his medical education at Government College University Lahore and King Edward Medical College before finishing his residency at the University of West Virginia and a fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston.
