The A. Philip Randolph Institute (APRI) has announced it will hold its 55th Annual Education Conference from July 22 to July 26, 2026, at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside.
APRI is an organization of Black trade unionists focused on advancing racial equality and economic justice. It was established in 1965 by A. Philip Randolph and Bayard Rustin to continue their work supporting working Americans.
A. Philip Randolph previously founded the Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters in 1925, leading Pullman porters in efforts to address low wages and racial discrimination. This movement achieved union recognition in 1935. In 1978, the Brotherhood merged into what is now known as the Transportation Communications Union (TCU/IAM), which continues to uphold Randolph’s goals for organized labor.
The annual conference brings together labor leaders, activists, and members from across the country to discuss issues affecting working people. The event includes training programs and educational workshops aimed at building leadership skills and promoting both racial and economic justice within communities and workplaces.
Participants will have opportunities to connect with other union members, hear from expert speakers, and learn strategies they can apply locally.
Further details about conference registration will be released soon. The tentative agenda for this year’s conference is available for download as a PDF.
