A+ Federal Credit Union announced on Mar. 24 that its A+ Education Foundation has awarded nearly $1.5 million in grants to local educators since it was established in 2005. The foundation, funded by membership dues and donations, has sponsored over 1,400 educator-led projects and supported more than 50 partner schools and districts.

The program aims to help teachers who often use their own money for classroom materials and innovative learning tools. By providing grants, the foundation seeks to improve educational experiences for students across Central Texas.

Teachers have used these funds for a variety of projects, including robotics programs, multilingual literacy centers, and STEAM activities designed to foster creativity and critical thinking. Michelle R., a recipient of a 2025 grant, said, “When children are given the freedom to move, explore, and engage with hands-on tools in a space that supports their needs, learning becomes not just possible — but joyful and meaningful.”

The A+ Education Foundation continues to offer grants of up to $1,500 for professionally certified educators who are members or become members of A+FCU. Applicants must work at schools within the credit union’s field of membership. The application window is open through May 31 on the A+FCU grants program webpage.

Founded in 1949 by Austin teachers, A+ Federal Credit Union now serves over 193,000 members at 22 branches throughout the community.
